Bad news, good news.

Bad news: I stayed up 'till 6:30 working on a Japanese video project and I'm about to just... collapse or something.

Good news: IT'S THE LAST JAPANESE VIDEO PROJECT I'LL EVER HAVE TO DO IN MY ENTIRE LIFE AAAHAHAHAHAHA ::Confettis.::

Anyway, I'm gonna totally take the bus home after checking in with my Gov teacher and pick up AC. (I'm still half-convinced that it can't actually exist.) As an internet banner ad so eloquently put it: "IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!!!"

I should buy a coupla pints of ice cream to soften the blow when I muster up the courage to hear the voice of the antichrist come out of a Cid that is actually sexy. *Tear.* Seriously, though, people, who here thinks I'm crazy for writing, like, a page-and-a-half letter in 9 font to Square-Enix USA regarding how the quality of Cid's voice, (not necessarily his voice actor, mind you, since I have no beef with Chris Edgerly himself!), should be changed for DoC? Granted I wrote it when I was totally bored up at Lake Tahoe and I haven't sent it yet, but buh? I never do that, like, ever. Am I crazy? o_o;

Hasn't the KH/KH2 character designs made it apparent? American business has it out for Cid. DISNEY TAINTED KH2 and now the DUBBERS ARE OUT TO CONQUER THE oh I give up.

Actually, I was rather amused and not too disappointed with Cid's voiceover. I was at first, then a friend reminded me of not only his origins, but caused me to pay attention to his actions. He lives in a rather remote, almost seemingly hickish town (I should know, I pretty much live near one). It's no surprise to me that he'd speak like that. After looking at it from that aspect, I grew to actually like the voice.

No hate. <3 XD You're giving an opinion based off a reasonable conclusion. The arguments I can make are that you never find out where he actually grew up, (which is strange, considering you find that out about all the other playable characters except for... well, Vincent), and Rocket Town is a fairly new town due to the fact that it sprung up on account of the Space Program, so it's unlikely that he actually grew up there.

Still, what irks me is that all of that analysis is probably a moot point; I'd been anticipating a really bad dub voice for Cid even when an FFVII sequel was just a daydream in my head due to the fact that he seems like the kind of character who'd get stereotyped into either a Southern, military, or oldish voice just on the basis of his appearance. (Blond hair, stubble, cigarette, air force background, age over thirty.) Lo and behold, this happened :/

What actually surprised me more was his Japanese voice--I was like, "IT'S SO HIGH." XDD I was weirded out for a while, but the more I watch, the more it seems to suit him. XDD

I think I might be happy even if it improves just a little bit, so I'll take a look-see once my other FFVII-crazed fan is at my house. What makes me so sad is that Chris Edgerly has done voices that I've heard and liked, and I can HEAR that potential for likeableness in some of his lines in KHII, when he isn't exaggerating... everything so much.

Why couldn't they have just given Cid a NORMAL voice? He doesn't even speak frikkin' Kansai to justify their bastardization. T_T Arrgghdfsjga I'm all for enhancing character traits, but WHAT?

First off, on a technical note, you wouldn't stab yourself with a nail gun, you'd shoot yourself.

Secondly, you're....well I've known you long enough to be used to it. If I didn't, I'd say you need medication.

Thirdly, regarding his cracker-tastic voice..."You've got a purdy mouth...best start prayin' up real good, boy ::Launches into a round of Dueling Banjos with Vincent.::"

It's too bad we probably won't have an option to stick with the Japanese version (with subtitles) of the game: not too happy with Vincent's english voice, much less Cid's. *saddened*

I know, God. T_T I mean, to be fair to dubbers, there's always one or two voices that are just perfect in dubs even when everything else is terrible, and sometimes dubs can be even better overall! (Like in Bebop--ironically starring the root of your Vincent unhappiness.) I would give so much for Square-Enix to actually release a KH/Final Fantasy game stateside where you can HAVE THAT OPTION. T_T; It'd even give a game more replay value because you could try both ways! The only reason I haven't totally settled on importing DoC is because I'm sure Barret's voice would rock so hardcore in the dub.

I feel for you, man. We're in the same boat with this whole "unsatisfied with dub voices in a game which we're forced to play in English."

...WHICH IS MADE EVEN MORE BITTER BY THE FACT THAT IT IS THOSE TWO PARTICULAR CHARACTERS WHO COINCIDENTALLY APPEAR SO VERY MUCH IN THE SAME GAME.
