I READ WATCHMEN RANDOMLY. Like everyone else in the world, I was all OMG BRILLIANT THIS IS AMAZING I AM HOOKED ::FURIOUSLY TURNS PAGES:: up until the nefarious plot and villain reveal and then I was like "...seriously?"
Maybe I wouldn't have been so disappointed if the stuff leading up to the end hadn't been so absolutely awesome. D: AND BEFORE YOU SAY "THE POINT IS THAT IT ISN'T SATISFYING" or "IT WASN'T CLICHÉ IN 1985" lemme say that It wasn't so much the content of the ending as the way it was executed that I felt wasn't so great. Like... everyone told me I'd shit my pants at the big reveal, but when it happened, I was like "Ahahaha! Clearly, this is a mislead, for this is exactly who I suspected as the red herring villain! Because it is way too obvious! I mean, Veidt is the conglomerate owner, so clearly he'd be behind any conspiracy if this were not a brilliant story. Surely this is all a trick! Hohohoho... ho... ho.... ........wait, what?" Plus, the villain kind of... well, I felt like Ozymandius was pretty poorly developed TBH, especially in a story that was otherwise so meticulously planned. You don't really find out much about him until he starts rambling towards the end, at which point he just seems like your typical narcissistic, self-righteous villain without any real reason for being such except that he's smart and GOOO~RGEOUS. I mean, maybe that'd be fine in another series, but it was incredibly disappointing when compared to the depth given to all of the other main characters and their motivations, especially considering he was supposed to be the main villain. I'm not asking for an overly angsty backstory here, I just want... reasons beyond ALEXANDER!!!!!!1111111one
But maybe I was supposed to freak out over Rorschach's identity, which.... well, fandomsecrets spoiled how he looked for me, so unfortunately I ttly caught he was the sign guy the first page he showed up in and was able to pick up all the subsequent brilliantly-hidden-because-they-are-so-obvious clues. :/ SIIIIGH. I must say though, HE was not overrated. Great, great development and dialogue. I was also happy that the female lead was interesting and likeable (GASP. IN A COMIC BOOK?) and that the romance was all well-done. Also, the way Dr. Manhattan's backstory was narrated was incredible (and LOL HEROES. I ALREADY KNEW THE WHOLE POINT OF YOU WAS TO RIP EVERYTHING FROM EVERYONE AND THEN RE-HASH IT, BUT DAMN.)
Can't wait to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan play the Comedian in the movie. 8D Asshole of assholes, but v. interesting character and uh DADDY WINCHESTER. Annnnd I could say more about all the things I found awesome but I'm too lazy.
So basically, Watchmen totally lived up to all the hype until I got to what's supposed to be the most exciting part of the story. Even then, though, the reason why the ending was so disappointing to me was because the stuff preceding it was so amazing. IDK. AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THIS OR AM I LIKE THAT ONE DUMB PERSON WHO EVERYONE GOES "PSSH" AT?
BUT ANYWAY, real life. I'm taking some cultural music class for some credit I need and I'm gonna have to go to traditional style music concerts or... something. I fear. ALSO, IT IS AT 10:15 AM. OH, ERIN, WHAT IS UP??? ::Wiggly fingers.::
I... am making no sense. I should Sylar post and read apps. AND I HAVE NOT POSTED IN WEEKS, HAVE I? HI, EVERYONE. 8D

Also, the ending was the only thing that threw me and turned OMG AWESOME!!! into OMG AWESOME! which, uh, is not that much of a downgrade I guess, but anyway. HOWEVER (and um, SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD BUT NOT RLY. I dunno how sensitive you are to them so just in case. :3)
...anyway, HOWEVER, I hear that Zack Snyder (ohgod I almost typed Zac Efron DX;;) has changed the ending and has gotten rid of that random alien-bot monster and that it was the only thing that he changed. So possibly, this part will be made better in the movie? (You know, if it ever gets released alksdfj;a Dammit Fox :| )

I swear to god that image in the trailer was one of the main reasons I decided to read the thing oh lordpfffffft Zac Efron XDDDD and YEAH I heard they changed the ending so I looked it up but then it looked like people were arguing whether or not they really had or not so... IONO? It wasn't even the random alien-bot monster that bugged me so much as how Ozymandias was so underdeveloped in comparison with everyone else and how the ending kinda came to a screeching halt and then everyone was like OH OKAY LET'S LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER NOW all of a sudden without reacting as much as they should have to the big catastrophe. I mean, I don't mind the whole theme of futility or "what is good and what is evil?" or the fact that the villainous plan succeeded – actually, one of the things I did really like was how Ozymandias was all I AIN'T NO RETARD SO I DID IT THIRTY-FIVE MINUTES AGO, BITCHES and then Rorschach and Nite Owl were all O SHI DAWG. That was cool, and I also really loved how the end showed all the little subplots coming together around the newsstand in a significant way only to all be symbolically destroyed. But... I dunno, I guess it was a mix of the wtfery and the villain being pretty easy to figure out that made it disappointing? ALONG WITH IT BEING DISPROPORTIONATELY NOT-AS-AWESOME AS THE REST OF THE STORY?
omg rambling XD

YEAH, the end was a bit abrupt and I know what you mean about it being not as awesome. It reminded me of Wall-E (...this will make sense, I swear) because at first, it was just SO DAMN EPIC and then it was as if, by the end, the writing couldn't keep up with that and it was still good, just not as good.
But the Rorschach stuff and everything was still awesome.~ Rorschaaaach.

YEAH it's sad when endings don't match up with everything attached to them – I guess because the story sets such a high bar for itself that it's near impossible to meet expectations? I actually didn't mind the Wall-E ending, so much, though.
Of course, then again, I'm a cornball.Omg Rorschach. XD I'M STILL TEMPTED TO APP HIM AND I ONLY LIKE HALF KNOW WHY. Omg you'd kick ass as the Comedian, though. :X BUT FIRST I WILL HUG YOU OVER YOUR SAM SCAREDNESS ::HUGS:: I'll try to get through a good chunk of apps today so we can at least give you a fairly quick response. <3

Yeah, probably. This is why I'm slightly worried about the third Batman because AUGH DARK KNIGHT but anyway. Aww, I liked all of Wall-E, too, since...seriously, PIXAR. They can do no wrong. ;o; It was just that the second half, after they went into space, paled in comparison to the truly amazing first half. D: Except for the fire extinguisher scene. So adorable.
You should seriously do it, I think you'd be awesome. x) alksdj;kl THANK YOU. ♥ Don't feel like you gotta rush or anything, ahhhh, but...yes. Cannot deny that hearing back would be nice. .__.;; *dies all over again*

YEAH WELL I'm just telling myself ahead of time that there's no way it can ever be as good as TDK, but hey, I can at least hope it's just plain good rather than HOLY SHIT MY LIFE IS FINALLY COMPLETE good. And I dunno, I liked all of Wall-E, though the scenery of the first half was like insanely awesome pfft the first few seconds I was like "....HOLY SHIT UH I DID NOT EXPECT THIS MOVIE TO BE SO HEAVY"
D'awwww, well, maybe. MAYBE. 8D;
...Also. Hay Maia. There is a present for you in your inbox. :)

HAHAH THAT WAS EXACTLY HOW I FELT. I got my mother to gush over it, lol, and she's so not the type. Yeah, the animation was gorgeous. :D Plus, Wall-Eeeee. God, I want a plushie of him. ;o; Yeah, it was so sad. ._.;;
