Oh god, I love my mom so much sometimes. I'm sitting here minding my own business and feeling kind of drowsy and sore and she comes home, brings in groceries, goes up to me and starts saying without any provocation whatsoever: "ERIN I'VE BEEN WATCHING SEASON THREE IT'S SO HORRIBLE NOTHING MAKES ANY SENSE NATHAN IS A TOTAL BASKETCASE THE ONLY GOOD PART IS WHEN SYLAR GOES EVIL AGAIN"

I'm telling you guys: this insanity is genetic.

On a heavily related FUTURE SPOILERY note: regardless of anything else I still fucking need to know exactly what's happening in this scene right RIGHT NOW NOW NOW NOW

You know how everyone's family is fucked up? Well, my mom's side of the family is majorly fucked up. Like, HBO series fucked up. My immediate family unit is pretty much the only exception.

That said, here is the latest chapter in our family history, which is actually one of the much, much, much lesser stories of my maternal side of the family tree, but which is one that directly affects me enough that I will tell it in a very condensed form.

So yeah, bottom line of all that is that my cousin Cristina might be permanently living with us. She's staying in my brother's currently unoccupied room and I cleared out and cleaned up my old iMac for her over there. She's v. disappointed it doesn't have internet, but I ordered her an external wireless USB adapter that should hopefully fix that. XD Anyway, if you've been wondering where I've been lately, that's most of the reason.

Also, ON A SLIGHTLY LIGHTER NOTE: Andrew and I got Bay Cities today and somehow all of my timing was perfect for my appointment afterwards and then meeting up with my mom and Cristina at a bakery after that. Later, Andrew, Jenny, and I were supposed to go for our weekly ice skating tonight but I realized I couldn't because of Cristina's birthday and everything. So then Jenny calls me up and our conversation goes as follows:

Jenny: Hey!
Me: Hey!
Jenny: So, are you busy tonight?
Me: You know, I'm really sorry, but I don't think we can do ice skating today – it's pretty crazy with my cousin over here, and it's her birthday, and –
Jenny: PFFFFFFFFT, ice skating? I WAS TALKING ABOUT SUPERNATURAL.
Me: OH. OH.
Jenny: YEAHHH.
Me: Well, yeah, we can do that over here with her, so I think that's okay!
Jenny: Okay! ...Yeah, I think we need to let Andrew know that we should pick a new day of the week for that.
Me: .........Probably.

So I went and picked her up from work, then came home (after she found a shoe bargain), and while we had dinner, she, my mom, and I all started FANGIRLING AHHHHHH over Supernatural being on SO SOON and OMG JENSEN AND JARED and OMG THEY'RE SUCH GOOD ACTORS WHEN THEY CRY THEY BREAK OUR HEEEEEAAARRRRRTSSSSS, to which Cristina laughed and my dad was like "............what in god's name is wrong with you people."

So, of course, Cristina got roped into watching MONDO BIG-SCREEN BLOW YOUR BRAINS OUT STEREO SOUND DARK ROOM HD Supernatural with us crazies, and LOL IT WAS SO FUN we like got that whole contagious scare thing going where we started SCREAMING at the creepy parts and AHAHAHA. Was AWESOME.

Also, Jenny and I joked about seeing My Bloody Valentine 3-D PFFFFT.

...............Then we decided to go on Tuesday.

Today was kind of hectic. I didn't sleep at all last night since I wanted to make sure I got traffic school done by my due date, so I basically went to my American Music quiz from home, left class, did errands... but while I was doing these things, apparently the pipe under our shower broke and when I came back I wasn't able to take a shower (I hadn't been able to take a shower in the morning because of the clog that spawned the breakage in the first place) so I was dirty all day and had to wash my hands with wet wipes and kshdkaj. D8 LUCKILY I basically slept for most of the time that my dad was fixing the pipe, so I didn't have to deal with it too much? 8D; Of course, now my sleeping schedule is totally off and I have to gradually reign it back in again. Which is why I will sleep after this post.

Anyway.... omg, reading all those Sam apps has gotten me on a total Supernatural kick, which is wonderful since I feel I've been neglecting due fangirling for that series this last half-year or so. I am TOTALLY hankering for some good fanfiction, and since I don't really know how to navigate around that nutso fandom and it's hard to find non-Wincest fic... Does anyone have any Supernatural genfic recs? I would be very appreciative to get pointed in the right direction since right now I've resorted to writing random stuff for myself skfkajfg Winchesters <333

I really do need to sleep now, so I will do that. Tomorrow: less Castlevania and more productivity. Holy shit those games are addictive. D: And HAHAHAAA I FINALLY BEAT THE DAMN CRAB. >:3

I am up late working on this Speech project! Woooo! It's kind of weird that having Sunny playing in the background is actually good for my work ethic. I can't explain it. See, I'm not having it play right now and I'm procrastinating with this entry! For shame, Erin.

I felt obligated to post because I haven't made a real update in more than two weeks. Aside from various show squees being missed in the midst of the birthday-squashed month, I also visited my brother in Washington D.C., visited Court with Andrew in Santa Barbara, and I quit Heroes.

Meanwhile, Sunny is giving me multiple men on cramped beds, House is giving me psychological House/Wilson porn, and Supernatural is giving me yellow-eyed Sam and this.

Epic fail, Heroes. Truly. epic. fail.

Okay. I only have scope, psychological effects, and Batman third-person sample left to do. Okay. ;; I have later today (once I sleep) and the day after, right? I CAN DO THIS. (I'm totally waking up "early" today to get in extra hours on this. >_>)

IN OTHER NEWS, my birthday this year was awesome and touched me deeply simply for the fact that my friends and family showed me, through little things, just how much they knew me and wanted to make me feel special. My friends apparently conspired together and succeeded at surprising me with exactly what I wanted (aka APOLLO JUSTICE and SUNNY SEASON 3 WOOO), and for my 21st, my dad got a bottle of champagne ahahaha. 8D I really don't like the taste of alcohol, but I had about a quarter of a glass for the sake of the occasion. Because yes. 21.

And seriously, even though I didn't go out and do anything out of the ordinary, I didn't need to. My parents being sweet and my buds being there to hang out with me and surprise me with Batman PEZ dispensers and Ben & Jerry's chocolate chip cookie dough is all I need in my old age.

We ordered pizza, ate cake, and watched Beauty and the Beast and Iron Man. It was amazing. <3

Man, I haven't updated in like... over two weeks. D8 This is especially weird considering that important shit has actually been going on:

• My brother went off to college! I thought I'd be sad, but the only real difference in my life has been peace and quiet and the occasional realization of HEY I DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT MY LITTLE BROTHER SCREWING ____ UP ANYMORE. As our final family excursion, we went to see The Dark Knight in IMAX; my second time in IMAX, their first time. They were all v. impressed, which is saying something considering this was my parents' THIRD TIME seeing the movie. YEAH. MY PARENTS. THREE TIMES JESUS. My grand total is five times now ogawd.

• I started the fall semester of school! \o/ I'm taking Speech 1, Astronomy 1, and Film 1. In Film 1, I somehow ended up sitting next to this girl who ended up in my mini-discussion group and with whom I had the following exchanges:

We ended up talking about shows and movies and stuff during the break and she also fangirled the exact same way over how Dark Knight was written so amazingly and adapted so brilliantly from the comics specifically with the parallels between Two-Face and the Joker and Batman and SO DELICIOUS kasdjhfk which is something I uh DID NOT EXPECT to come across RANDOMLY. Plus, she's interested in writing. WHUT.

I also ended up running into an old high school class buddy with whom I rambled with about MGS back in the day, so we exchanged phone numbers and e-mail addresses and stuff, which was cool. :D

• I FINALLY finished season 2 of Dexter! Unfortunately, Dexter suffers the same fate as Heroes in that its first season is absolutely phenomenal and then its second season is uh.... not. D: Still, while the ending was kind of dissatisfying to me, it was a hell of a lot better than the middle of the season. FOR BOTH SHOWS I WISH THE BEST OF LUCK FOR SEASON 3.

• Speaking of Heroes: Watched the deleted scenes on Court's s2 DVDs... AND NOW I KNOW WHERE NATHAN DISAPPEARED TO IN S2, JESUS. ( !Deleted Scenes, S2, and S3-Teaser spoilers! )

It was also really cool to see MOAR NATHANSdkfjshfds ::foams at mouth:: the alternate ending for S2 and all of the now-unuseable footage that came of it. Definitely makes the DVDs of an otherwise disappointing season worth the money for a hardcore Heroes fan IMHO.

Okay, this is mainly just an excuse to use this new icon. UM.

The Mustang's brakes got fixed (sorta; they still squeak like hell) so I've been driving it lately. \o/ FUN. Today, me, Court, Andrew, and Jenny all went to Bay Cities, got food, and then came back here and hung out. And played board games. And we had an awesome time. Driving in a convertible on the freeway with your best buds on a nice day... one of moments in life when you're like "man, this is perfect." ♥

Parents are out of town and so's my brother, so... I got the house to myself! I've been letting it become a mess more just because than out of laziness, and I cleaned up some of it with Jenny today. Need to get up early tomorrow to water all of Mom's plants and then... go back to sleep. Or maybe stay up until the sun rises and water them. And then sleep.

Watched some Batman: TAS tonight and then finished rewatching Batman Begins and taking notes. Also am practicing writing Bruce in a one-on-one RP with Court. Gonna be bringing Liquid back into Conscripted tomorrow, and hopefully bringing Sylar into dayshift at Damned. Annnnnd stuff.

Been kind of lively lately with.... life! Or something.

My dad is leaving his job as director of Environmental and Public Works in the middle of March, which is really weird considering he's been working for the City of Santa Monica for 25 years. He's been having big and small parties thrown for him by his bosses/co-workers/employees these past couple of weeks, the last of which was a big bash at this shi-shi restaurant where he got some really nice gifts and really nice speeches. To give some perspective: my dad's a pretty big environmentalist and has spent most of those 25 years working to get the city to change things to help lessen its environmental impact on the ocean and air. And though, as one of the speakers jokingly pointed out, he drives a very gas-efficient Ford Mustang and plays the very environmental sport of golf, he really has worked long and hard to achieve that goal, and even now, is moving to a new job with an environmentalist, non-profit organization. The downside is he's going to have to commute to Irvine, but his new employers are paying him extra to cover the cost of a natural gas car that he can use to breeze through the car pool lane (hopefully). In any case, I'm proud of him, though it's still weird he won't be working there anymore.

Whatever, I'm just going to have my mom drop me off in the morning from now on and take the bus back.

BUT HAPPIER THINGS: On the video game front, I've been playing lots of Pokémon and I beat the Elite Four and the Champion on my first try! YAAAAY! Time for the Pal Park and filling up the National Dex, which is.... tough considering I don't have any GBA Pokémon games. But my brother does. So I guess I'll steal that.

This is a show about a group of 'friends' who own a dive bar in Philadelphia. They aren't your usual lovable Cheers crowd, however: They're all a bunch of self-obsessed sociopaths, the likes of which make Jerry and the gang look like Red Cross volunteers. They're bigoted, they're greedy, they'll sell out each other at a moment's notice, and they're fucking hilarious.

GOD DAMMIT.

So I have jury duty today at 7:45 AM downtown, so I decided I'd be up by 6 and be out the door by 6:30 to make sure I got downtown early enough to figure out what the hell I was doing. So I got to sleep around 11:30 PM last night.

...3:30 AM I wake up from HEROES DREAMS GODAMMIT COURT and I CANNOT FALL ASLEEP AGAIN. GRARRGGHH. Around 5 AM I gave up and now I'm just... doing stuff before I get ready. D:

In other news, I've gotten my MOM properly hooked on Supernatural. Since she got back from her trip, she's been all "HEY LET'S WATCH SUPERNATURAL" and "well, your little cousins are coming over, but that means WE CAN'T WATCH SUPERNATURAL" and SO ON AND SO FORTH. I'm really happy she's enthusiastic enough about it to make commentary like--"Sam and those headaches POOR THING" and "DEAN IS SO SWEET TO HIM" and "Sam is SMART."

I've got Maxine hooked too (EVEN THOUGH SHE'S MORE TERRIFIED OF IT EVEN THAN I AM). Hopefully we can get together soon and marathon through another chunk of s2. >:] EEE WINCHESTERS <333

In other news, my parents are gonna be in Paris for nine days, so Evan and I have run of the house for that time. Went by Vons last night and bought a bunch of quasi-junk-food that my mom would never let us get--Lucky Charms, Eggos, Ore-Ida fries.... and then oatmeal and brown sugar, but uh, that's not junk food. XD;

The bad thing about this is that I have to get up around 6:45 to take my brother to school, though I can then go back home and sleep, so it's not such a big deal, although today it kind of sucked because I was planning on getting up again around 11 but NO. I HAD LADYCRAMPS AND THAT MADE ME BEDRIDDEN FOR A COUPLE MORE HOURS.

Gonna take my brother to take pictures of restaurants... or... something for the school newspaper. Should shower. Wooo~
