Silly Chat Shenanigans: GODDAMMIT DON'T SAY IT LIKE THAT )

In other news:

- I have now seen all of The Office, thereby exhausting one possible procrastination show (though I want to rewatch 4th season in order now that I've seen the rest). Thoughts! -Some spoilers.- )

- I have gotten my hands on S1 of Batman:TAS and I have S3 coming in the mail. WOOOOOOOOOOOOO! MOAR PROCRASTINATION.

- I've been replaying MGS2 with Andrew and MGS3 by myself. I forgot how much ass I can kick at those games if I play intensely enough. 8D Unfortunately, I am still very rusty. Which brings me to...

- HOLY SHIT ANDREW HAS MGS4 ANDREW HAS MGS4 ANDREW HAS MGS4 I AM GOING TO BE PLAYING IT TONIGHT OHMYGOD NO WAY

- If I weren't the one who'd put up the Activity Check, I'd be so scared by it. :( asagldf so sorry, guys. I hate being scary.

Did you guys know I've seen the old Indiana Jones movies more times than I can count, that I can recite some Crusade scenes from memory if I try? That young Harrison Ford holy shit no one can ever compete Indy was my ill-fated, ill-timed adolescent crush?

Oh, yes. I love my Indy.

SO. For Andrew's birthday today (HAPPY (KINDA) BELATED BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] evildrew!!! <3<3<3), we went and saw Indiana Jones and the Plastic Surgery Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls on opening day. Oh yes, watching my Indy--who I had previously considered forever young--with grey hair and wrinkles was painful, and I was suspicious of this old man who had donned the fedora and pretended to be my childhood hero. Soon, however, I realized he had the same half-goofy, half-badass antics, the same cheesy lines, the same crazy escapes and generally the same spirit about him. My Indy! He lived! I sat in glee at the action scenes (Indy's greatest escape yet!), the crazy commies (no moar Nazis? weirdly sad!), the jokes (SNAKES!), and the adorable, adorable character interaction (will not spoil!). Three quarters through the movie, I was thinking "You know? This is actually PRETTY DAMN GOOD, all incredibly unsettling CGI aside!"

AND THEN

AND THEN

WHAT IN GOD'S NAME-- (SPOILERS) )

Bottom Line: Exceeded expectations even if the climax was "wtf"-worthy. Old!Indy was surprisingly easy to acclimate to after a while, even though I now feel like I need to watch Raiders to get some my hot Indy fix. >_>;

THE REAL QUESTION ON EVERYONE'S MIND?: I hate to betray my beloved Indy and say this, but yeah, Iron Man was better IMHO. D: If you have to choose between the two, GO FOR THE STILL-ATTRACTIVE TONY STARK. But seriously, I forgot to mention how I saw Iron Man, and it really was fantastic. I won't pretent to know the original canon (omgposer) but the movie was super-enjoyable even for someone new to the series.

THE REAL, REAL QUESTION ON EVERYONE'S MIND?: Actually, it's kind of hard to say if it was better than Temple of Doom, considering the ending. The character interaction works in its favor, though. I SUPPOSE ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

Also, one has to wonder why all these ancient civilizations spent centuries building these intricate structures that are DESIGNED TO IMMEDIATELY FALL APART ONCE SOMEONE ACTUALLY SETS FOOT IN THEM.

We need an Indy at Landel's, stat. A young one. 8D

ORITE: Two more things:

CONCERNING SUPERNATURAL

CONCERNING GAY SUPERHEROES

I blame [livejournal.com profile] famira for the last one.

Okay, f-list, since like... only two of you I know of have seen this show, I shall tell you of

IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA

This is a show about a group of 'friends' who own a dive bar in Philadelphia. They aren't your usual lovable Cheers crowd, however: They're all a bunch of self-obsessed sociopaths, the likes of which make Jerry and the gang look like Red Cross volunteers. They're bigoted, they're greedy, they'll sell out each other at a moment's notice, and they're fucking hilarious.

More about the show. )

SOME CLIPS:

RICK ROLL'D by Dennis
The Gang Runs for Office
Hundred Dollar Baby Training Montage
Clown Baby
Door Marked Pirate
Nightman
Dayman
Baby Tanning Promo
Beatbox Promo
'DeVito Contract' Promo Skit

This is literally up there as my favorite show right now along with Supernatural and Heroes. I WANT TO DRAW/WRITE FANSTUFF OF THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE. IT'S THAT GREAT.

My brother, by the way, is the one who got me into this show. We watched it every week last fall right after I finished Supernatural. <3 AND YES, I ALREADY HAVE MY MOM HOOKED ON THIS ONE TOO, BELIEVE IT OR NOT she's the one who wanted to buy the DVDs. And we did.

OH. DID I MENTION I DOWNLOADED THE INFAMOUS GURREN LAGANN OUT OF CURIOSITY AND WATCHED IT ALL OVER THE COURSE OF LIKE... THREE DAYS? (This was over a week ago.)

::NINJA::

Thoughts on it. No real explicit spoilers, but a lot of references to them, so read at your own risk? )

All in all, I really liked it, not enough to get into the fandom or anything, but enough, even, that I'm looking forward to rewatching it with someone. It follows a lot of typical anime standards, but it was pretty damn cool!

Also, Kittan was my favorite. 8D;

Finished it, woo. :D

Um. Will refrain from saying anything cryptic/funny about the book in the benefit of those who haven't finished yet, since I know that's annoying. :( <3 HOWEVER, if you wish to discuss, FEEL FREE TO COMMENT, AND BEWARE SPOILERS, PPLZ.

A few small comments. )

...Okay, so that was a bunch of commenting. XD; Anyway, yay! It's over!

SO.

I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE SHOW, AND IT IS CALLED

Seriously, it's awesome, it's fun, it's thought-provoking, and it's ADDICTIVE. My mom's the one who got me hooked on this one--she watched, like, the entire first season off of On Demand in one night, so I figured I'd give it a shot, and hocrap it's amazing. It's like a mix of premium-channel drama, police procedural, and PSYCHO-KILLER FUN, plus major moral questioning and introspection.

So yeah, I got Court hooked too, and we finished the last episode of Season 1 (the only one out so far) tonight. TWISTS AND TURNS ABOUND. Seriously, the final twist is... CRAZY and totally cool. It also helps that the music is great and the visuals are stellar, and kjdshfkas I should have watched it sooner. (It's weird, because although I saw a bunch of billboard advertisements for it when it first came out, but I was under the impression it was just going to be a normal police procedural that was edgier than usual because it was going to be on Showtime.)

ANYWAY. It's awesome, and I'm really happy to have a new show to watch in place of Rome come next season. (As awesome as House is, it was sad to only have one show to follow every week. D:) SO YAAAY. :DDD WOO.

EDIT: ALSO, notice Dexter has been added to the Requested Characters list at [livejournal.com profile] damned. NOTICE. Although I kinda am tempted to read the novels and then try to app for him kasjfhaksf

EDIT-EDIT: ALSO, [livejournal.com profile] endless_abyss! (Aka Sabrina, but I thought that'd catch your attention better. XD;) I remember Andrew was asking me if I knew any series similar to Death Note so that you could share them with your DN board? WELL, I have to say, Dexter is the only show I've come across that's anything like Death Note, and it's actually remarkably so. It has the whole "killing for a higher purpose" and questionable morals thing going, as well as the dramatic irony of Dexter being a serial killer and none of his police force co-workers realizing it. (There's even an arc where Dexter's own unit is investigating one of his murders and trying to catch him, and he's trying to throw them off from the inside.) The main difference between Dexter and Light, though, is that Dexter has no choice but to kill and makes the best of it, whereas Light makes a conscious decision, as well as the fact that Dexter refuses to kill innocent people, even if it's to his benefit, unlike our favorite god-complexed teenager.

...THAT'S ALL. :D;
